Ontario is open for business en français, says the Assemblée de la francophonie de l’Ontario

Ottawa, June 3, 2020 – The Assemblée de la francophonie de l’Ontario (AFO), in collaboration with the Société économique de l’Ontario, is proud to unveil today a new promotional tool entitled “Ontario Open for Business en français.” It consists of a 32-page bilingual prospectus aimed at the business world which makes the case for business start-ups or investments with a focus on French in Ontario.
The document showcases Ontario as an environment that has substantial Francophone and bilingual human resources. Its release comes at a key time as reflection continues on reopening the province’s economy following the COVID-19 public health crisis. It will be available for distribution to governments, companies and organizations that do business internationally.

“In Ontario, the future is bright with opportunities in both French and English across many sectors that have huge potential, thanks to our business environment which is excellent for growth, innovation, investment, job creation and the entrepreneurial spirit in all its forms. As an observer member of the Organisation internationale de la francophonie, Ontario shows its willingness to do business with Francophone countries throughout the world and boasts all of the assets needed for success: a flourishing Francophone population, an abundance of bilingual talent and a world of ambition,” says Carol Jolin, president of the AFO.

“The ability to speak French is an advantage that opens doors to regional, national and international ecosystems. Within Ontario, French is a catalyst for economic development that helps local communities flourish and attracts Francophone and bilingual community resources from around the world. The SEO proposes collaborative approaches and focuses on regionalism to contribute to Ontario’s growth.” says Denis Laframboise, president, Société économique de l’Ontario (SÉO).

The publication was produced by the firm Axion. “The AFO challenged us to design a prestigious document that could attract international entrepreneurs and investors. The key asset to promote is French Ontario itself, in all of its rich diversity, within a strong province of Ontario. Page after page, the document highlights our best assets and advantages and opens doors to the Ontario market like never before. We wish you the best of success in your recruitment efforts,” says Linda Savard, president of the firm Axion.

The AFO hopes that this document will raise interest among large companies and investors and looks forward to distributing it widely to international audiences in economic missions, embassies and other appropriate places and events.
